Schedule Information: Mostly daytime during the week. Some evenings and weekends may be required. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, employee will be working remotely most of the time. However, working at least one day/week in the Makerspace is desired.
Hours per Week: Varies, Up to 29 hours / week
Benefits: Prorated Sick & Vacation; Holiday Pay; and 2 Harper Tuition Waivers per semester
Work Conditions: Work is primarily indoor and sedentary, however, the employee may be required to move about the college and work at events.
Duties of Position: Responsible for supporting the Makerspace and Entrepreneurship Center by assisting with administrative activities; daily operation of the Center; organizing, scheduling and marketing workshops and events. The assistant will also help to oversee the student aides working in the Center.
Assists Programs Manager in the planning, development and running of outreach and education programs for the Center. For example, provides clerical support with developing youth summer camps: proposing concepts, curriculum development, scheduling, and running them.
Assists Marketing Manager in creating marketing content for online and social media to promote the Center. For example, provides clerical assistant with producing newsletter, updating the website, posting to social media, planning a calendar of events, and assisting in running events.
Assists student and community members while they are working in the Center during open lab hours. For example, answering questions about the center’s programs, equipment and technology, supplying materials to members and booking resources.
Works the front desk of the center during some hours. For example, greets visitors, answers telephones, takes and distributes messages, provides general information regarding the business programs and the Center
Assists the Makerspace and Entrepreneur Center General Manager with the daily operation of the center. For example, provides clerical assistant with purchasing supplies and services for the center and managing work orders for IT requests and facilities.
Creates and types memos, reports, schedules, and marketing materials as needed.
Assists the Dean, business faculty coordinator, and General Manager of the Center with projects as needed. For example, assembling project kits for students.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements: High school graduate and current business college student or Associate Degree in Business or Marketing.
Experience Requirements: Minimum 1-year office experience required. Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees, students and instructors; good oral communication skills; ability to work under supervision; ability to provide accurate work on a timely basis; and the ability to perform required duties with initiative; good judgment, accuracy, persistence, integrity, dependability, tact and courtesy.
Working knowledge of Microsoft office software required. Marketing experience preferred.
