Position Description and Duties: Harper College's Manufacturing program offers students advanced training and credential opportunities as well as transferable college credits. Our state-of-the-art equipment, labs and classroom facilities allow faculty to teach students using the latest technology in the field. Program faculty network, develop and maintain close partnerships with surrounding businesses so that paid internship and employment opportunities are available for our students. In its third year, the program is growing which means there is a need for an experienced professional who can share their knowledge and enthusiasm with our students.
As a Full-time Tenure Track Manufacturing Technology instructor, the successful candidate will teach courses in Metal Fabrication. Teaching in both the classroom and laboratory settings, the successful candidate will use a hands-on approach to demonstrate procedures and prepare students for FMA and AWS certifications. The faculty member will maintain the highest possible standards of classroom and laboratory instruction; apply innovative teaching and learning pedagogies and keep abreast of new information and developments in manufacturing. This is a full time, tenure track position that requires a minimum 15 contact hours of teaching per week in addition to a minimum of 10 office hours per week for student consultation. Service on college committees and participation in departmental and divisional initiatives is required. Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May)
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or near completion, in a field related to manufacturing required.
Experience Requirements: Must have experience in commercial manufacturing or related field and ability to teach a variety of manufacturing and fabrication courses. Experience with and ability to teach welding course is preferred.
