Work Conditions: Primarily indoors in a clinic or laboratory setting. Requires moving around the lab and organizing light supplies. Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs.
Duties of Position: Assists with operations of the dental hygiene clinic.
Participates in opening or closing of dental hygiene clinic.
Uses autoclave equipment to sterilize instruments.
Stores sterilized instruments, cleans, and replenishes ultrasonic baths.
Completes regular maintenance of sterilizers.
Implements infection control practices, environmental sanitation, and waste management procedures.
Dispenses departmental instruments, small equipment and supplies to students and faculty as needed.
Monitors the check-out and return of borrowed department instruments and small equipment.
Maintains on-going inventory of supplies, instruments, small equipment, forms, and patient recruitment materials. Adheres to equipment maintenance schedules.
Communicates with program coordinator regarding purchasing, inventory needs.
Stocks supplies in mobile carts, sterilization room and other auxiliary areas.
Organizes x-ray holders, sealant, and dental materials bins.
In collaboration with the program coordinator, schedules maintenance and repair of clinical equipment as indicated.
Assists student and faculty as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent, with basic computer skills training. Some college desirable.
Experience Requirements: Experience in a health-related facility including familiarity with infection control procedures. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) a plus.
