Duties of Position: The One Stop Center Student Assistant is the first point of contact for students and visitors to Harper College serving as the welcoming point at the One Stop Center and Information Center. Provide excellent customer service by assisting students in-person, by phone, email and chat with questions about College procedures as well as how to perform transactions in My Harper (student portal). The Student Assistant will help students register for classes, checking on financial aid status, applying for scholarships and signing up for a payment plan. Make outbound calls to inform students of current eligibility status using available resources. Represent the One Stop at events and activities for new and continuing students that support enrollment related functions. Serve as a “storyteller” to other students about Harper and foster relationships that promote positive student experiences.

Provide support to One-Stop Center staff as well as assistance with special projects and events as needed. Provide campus tours as needed.

Personal Characteristics: Team player but also able to work independently, be friendly, courteous and reliable. Ability to work flexible hours as needed. Represent the College in a professional manner. Maintain confidentiality of student and departmental information.

Education Requirements:  In order to apply for this position, you must be a current Harper College student, enrolled in at least six credits per semester (three for summer)

Experience Requirements: Some general office or customer service experience preferably in a fast-paced, high volume environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual students are always needed but this is not a requirement of the job.

Schedule Information: Will determine schedule based on student's availability.  Must have some availability to work during the following hours:

Sunday

Possibly some Sundays

Monday

8am-7pm

Tuesday

8am-7pm

Wednesday

8am-7pm

Thursday

8am-7pm

Friday

8am-4:30pm

Saturday

Possibly some Saturdays

Maximum hours per week: 20
