Duties of Position:
Responsible for assisting and facilitating classroom teaching. The Aide contributes to efficient classroom coordination by supporting the instructor’s classroom experience , as well as, managing the day to day technical aspects of firing kilns, making sure adequate supplies are stocked and maintaining all equipment to be in working order.
Responsible for loading, firing and unloading electric and gas kilns
Responsible for helping to mixing clay and glazes
Supervise and train student aide(s)
Replace parts and repair equipment as needed
Help train students and monitor safety practices in the studio, especially with regard to clay and glaze materials
Collects and delivers supplies and teaching materials as necessary.
Helps instructor in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Equipment and Tools used:
Ceramic specific equipment including but not limited to kilns, clay mixer, pug mill, etc.
Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in a classroom setting. Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees, students, and instructors. Good oral communication skills, ability to work under supervision, ability to provide accurate work on a timely basis, ability to perform required duties with initiative, good judgment, accuracy, persistence, integrity, dependability, tact and courtesy.
