Duties of Position:
Plans, organizes and administers the instructional programs of the Division
Demonstrates leadership in the core values of respect, integrity, collaboration, and excellence within the Division and across the College.
Provides for an effective two-way channel of communication between the administration and teaching faculty to ensure the integrity of the educational program.
Establishes procedures consistent with College policy and procedures for the effective operation of the functional areas of the Division
Provides leadership in all aspects of the college mission, including the development of new programs, courses and instructional activities.
Appreciates and supports diversity of faculty, staff and students.
Involves the faculty as active participants in the scope, direction and governance of the division within a collective bargaining environment.
Develops and recommends an operating budget for the division and is responsible for the management of the adopted budget for the current fiscal year.
Provides leadership to the division faculty and staff to ensure quality academic programs and student success.
Supervises career coordinators and department chairpersons and is responsible for all educational programs within the division.
Assumes responsibility for supervising and evaluating instruction of all programs, courses, and services within the Division.
Evaluates the faculty and staff within the division; makes recommendations for retention, promotion and/or tenure appointments; and provides support for staff development activities.
Assumes primary responsibility for recruitment of faculty and staff within the division, serves on all divisional search committees, and makes recommendations to the Provost.
Stimulates the development of new curricula to meet the changing needs of the District as appropriate to the Division.
Provides support for departmental accreditation reports and effective compliance with external accreditation requirements as applicable.
Ensures that each department prepares a Program Review as prescribed by the ICCB.
Understands instructional technology and encourages its inclusion in teaching.
Understands and continues to learn the skills necessary for effective academic management and leadership.
Provides leadership and develops a budget for the Child Learning Centers within the auxiliary fund.
Provides leadership for Harper’s Entrepreneurial Center.
Educational Requirements: Master's degree in Higher Education / Community college Administration or a discipline represented in the Division, Doctorate preferred.
Experience Requirements: Successful, collegiate-level teaching experience. Progressively more responsible experience in an administrative capacity within an academic environment or appropriate instructional setting.
