General Function of Position:
This position is responsible for providing guidance, information, and expertise related to the Health Careers Pathway designed for high school students in Harper's district. This position advises current and prospective high school students about the educational and career opportunities available in the Health Careers through completion of a degree or certificate at Harper College. Responsible for case management of Health Career Pathway students as needed. Develops and presents orientations, recruiting events and marketing materials for the Health Careers Pathway.
Provides educational planning for students in the Health Careers Pathway at Harper as needed. Assists students with semester-by-semester academic course schedules that meet the requirements of their degree program. Documents all educational planning interactions.
Provides high school students in the Health Careers Pathway with information about coursework, transfer, and college and career pathway options at Harper College.
Engages in outreach to current and prospective high school students in Harper's district to inform students about the Health Careers Pathway.
Advises high school students in the Health Careers Pathway with degree audit and tracking to create a seamless transition from high school to Harper.
Responsible for case management of Health Career Pathway students as needed. Conducts proactive outreach and monitors assigned students' progress toward completing their educational goals.
Collaborates with Harper's high school partners, the Health Careers Division, the Student Development and Enrollment Management Divisions, and NECSS to maintain the most current information about the Health Careers Pathway.
Serves as an information resource about the Health Careers Pathway by providing students and families with information about the academic curriculum and the opportunities for employment and transfer.
Assists with developing and presentations for orientations, recruiting events, and the development of marketing materials and other resources for the Health Careers Pathway.
Makes student referrals to Health Careers faculty, coordinators, advisors and counselors, or other support services as needed.
Works with a variety of technology tools (i.e., Student Information System, appointment scheduler, degree audit/planner, etc.) and able to use these tools effectively to assist students.
Demonstrates excellent oral, presentation, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Has a professional rapport with students, parents, faculty and staff.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Successful candidate should have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Utilizes standard office and classroom equipment in order to perform the duties of the job.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Health Careers discipline, psychology, education, school counseling, communications or related area. Master's preferred.
Experience Requirements: One year of experience working with students in an advisory capacity, preferably in an educational setting.
